Monthly Giving Back Initiative

At Seedling + Sprout we are committed to donating 50% of our revenue from our Ready-to-Ship Bonnets on a monthly basis to a rotating non-profit organization. With the help of recommendations from our community, customers, friends and family, we select non-profit organizations that support causes that are important to us. 

Our non-profit organization for October 2021 is Pitquhirnikkut Ilihautiniq / Kitikmeot Heritage Society in Ikaluktutiak, Nunavut. Over the last 25 years, Pitquhirnikkut Ilihautiniq has been working to preserve and renew Inuinnait knowledge  and culture through recorded interviews with Elders, an Elders in Residence program, annual land camps, and cultural workshops. 

The Inuinnaqtun language has less than 600 fluent speakers remaining. By most estimates, it is a language that will be extinct in less than two generations. Faced with an urgent timeline, Pitquhirnikkut Ilihautiniq has made an unwavering commitment to the revitalization of the Inuinnaqtun language by bringing Elders, Inuinnaqtun linguists, fluent speakers, and researchers together to reverse the loss of the Inuinnaqtun language, mentor the next generation of competent speakers, and develop innovative tools and resources for learning and language reclamation.
